But the big jump in quality was from the 1040x1080 MP4 to the AVCHD. I had filmed the same short clip for all 3 to compare and my husband and I could definitely see a big improvement from the low quality MP4 to the middle quality AVCHD but we also could see parts of the movie such as a patio chair that had cross-hatching on it where the XAVC S was clearly a little sharper. Plus there's a receiver that the DVD player goes into via HDMI and then out via HDMI to the TV and external speakers.Īnyway, all 3 movies played with no problem and very easily! I was quite surprised that the XAVC S movie played. We have a fairly new Sony DVD player although it only says it can play MP4 and AVCHD.Īnd we have a fairly new Panasonic plasma 1080p HDTV. I finally got around to trying the idea of putting a flash drive with my Sony A5100 movies into our Sony DVD player to play them on our home TV.
